Most of the groups I'm in are moving to groups.io which is a site basically designed for disgusted Yahoo group members. They will transfer over a group automatically (though members have to go to the groups.io for and join there). I have not heard of any complaints from anyone about their service. (But I think if you want files and photos they charge the group a fee of about $100/year).
