They did not shout down the groups, they closed them to new member are moderated (I think) and eliminated the files and photos sections.
I am a little surprised that your PDF was attached, as I figured that capability would be gone too.
Most groups I am involved with moved somewhere else as a result of the files and photos issue. Mostly Groups.io
