there aren't any thrust bearings in the Y axis of the X2, that is one of the causes of the backlash and stiffness and putting in a bearing is not easy.
That is the reason that the plastic thrust washer idea came about. Many people have now done it and it seems to have been very successful.
I am very pleased with the way it worked on mine = it isn't often you get such an improvement for so little effort
