Teflon has several drawbacks the first being $$$ and the second that it
tends to "cold flow" over time. HDPE is probably better except for a low
modulus of elasticity. Delrin looks very good and used gears look even
better. There is a glass filled Teflon" called Rulon that has nearly
ideal characteristics except that a gold washer might well be cheaper!
Of course brass/bronze has virtues as well! Bill in Boulder
