Re: [GrizHFMinimill] KBC Rotary table

I almost got the one from LMS, but the index plate will not do 21 divisions, I got the LMS 1810 which has a better ind
ex plate. Of course, You can always make your own index plate with a different set of holes. Why 21? Want to make 21 tooth gears! But then I mad
e a gear hob...

I have wanted a 4" rotary table for some time so when KBC put theirs on sale for $160 with free shipping I could not resist. I received it today.

As far as I can judge from pictures it is identical to this one:

It did not come coated in grease, in fact it was quite dry. Previously returned item? I cannot find anything else immediately wrong with it. I will need a 6mm clamping kit and enlarge the holes in the table mounting clamps to take 3/8" studs and probably also buy the chuck adapter and 3-jaw chuck.

My main question is: Should I be taking this thing apart, cleaning it and oiling it etc? I am averse to taking things apart if I do not know what to expect inside (this one did not come with a manual) for fear of things poping out never to be seen again. Is there a risk of that?

BTW has anyone successfully mounted a Taig 3-jaw chuck on one of these things? I was wondering about getting one of these:

and cutting a 3/4"-16 thread on the end of the stub to mount the chuck.
