There is a ring inside the nut. The collet has a matching groove at
it's largest dimension. With nothing in the collet, insert the collet
into the nut with a twisting motion and it will snap into the ring in
the nut. Screw the nut onto the holder.

The collet has a range of 1mm (about 1/32"). A complete set of 18
collets will cover the complete range of tool sizes from 3mm to 20mm
(about 1/8" to 3/4"). The collet should be slightly (within 1mm or
1/32") larger than the tool/cutter. Don't force the tool into a
too-small collet.

Insert the tool or cutter into the collet. Tighten the nut.

To release the tool and change the collet, loosen the nut. After 2 or 3
turns, you will feel some resistance. Keep turning and the tool/cutter
will release from the collet. Take the tool/cutter out of the collet
and unscrew the collet all the way. Now push the collet sideways with a
twisting motion and it will release from the nut.

Done.
Hope this helps.
