The model you should look at is a garage door operator motor.
It has identical start and run windings at right angles and runs as a
permanently split capacitor motor. Direction is decided by which leg
has the capacitor in series! The capacitor is connected through a DPDT
(I think) switch or in the case of the garage door motor a relay. I
might consider using it as a table or knee elevation motor. Down side is
that it only runs at a single speed unless you can provide some fancy
electronic controls, that is to say a VFD! Bill in Boulder
