as compared to store bought chicom junk

Then why would you use a lower end mill to try to make stuff? Even if the scales are off, the stuff you make will only be as good as the mill it is made on.
This is not true at all.
Any skilled person can make stuff to very good tolerances with any mill - including the cheap chinese ones.
It just takes longer and is harder, thats all.
All the small mills (above 100 kg) are actually pretty good bang/buck, imho.

The junk is things like crap pressed steel pliers, wrenches, etc. Many machine tools are ok to good, for the price.
Look at any nr of hundreds of models, toys, tools, robotics RC stuff built with these tools.

Your not in the aerospace business are you?
Yes.

I built my own mill from scratch.
Portal mill, moving table. Linear guides.
I use a 50 year old Bp M-head as spindle.
Max workpiece size is 1600 x 1600 mm, and about 1000 kg in mass.
Runs, and still needs the igus conduits for electricity, and connectors for wires to be finished.

Took about 13.000 hours of work, and 20k in cash.
Mass 2000 kg, 600 pieces in steel, about 20 major assys.
Welded/bolted/preloaded torsion box construction.
