I've recently "down-converted" my LMS 3900 to a fixed/solid column configuration. First benefit right off the bat: 0.00025 trammeled atop a pair of blocks on each side of the bed. Considering this is a hobby-grade item, I'd have been happy to reach 0.001 for a figure.
Anyway, the conversion leaves me with a few pounds of cast iron that I'd hate to toss out, but for which I have little use.
I'm more than willing to take a loss on selling this, but one has to have a buyer. If you are interested in converting to a tilting column, make me an offer.
It includes the bed (not the table), the column and torsion spring and all the associated hardware that I removed in order to make the swap.
If no one is interested in the column as a conversion, does anyone have an idea for which this stuff could be put to use? I don't expect that cast iron as scrap has much salvage value.
thanks
fred
