RUNNING THE PRINTER
There are several factors to consider in running a 3D printer. One is
the material you're printing with. There are two major materials, PLA
and ABS.
PLA is an organic plastic. It melts at a lower temperature than ABS,
is less expensive, and is less prone to warping when printed. It runs
somewhere around 30 to 40 dollars per kilogram. It's biodegradable as
well.
ABS is a standard plastic, it needs a higher temperature and can warp
when printed. It requires a heated printer bed and is more expensive
than PLA.
If you have a heated bed, then you'll have to pick the right bed
temperature. If not, then you'll want to put some sort of tape on the
bed to hold the plastic in place while it's being printed. Some
people use either kapton tape (somewhat expensive) or a bed of blue
painter's tape. Read the documentation on the printer to figure out
what you should do, it varies.
Next is the filament itself. You'll get it in one of two thicknesses,
either 1.75 mm or 3.0 mm. Various colors have slightly different
characteristics.
Running the printer involves juggling the extruder temperature (what's
melting the plastic), and the bed temperature (if any). You may need
to juggle the printing speed and layer thickness for best results.
If at this time you're getting the feeling that the process is not an
exact science, you'd be right. However, there are various tricks that
can be done to optimize the process. More on that later, although I'm
far from an expert here.

Next comes the code for the bracket
