I completed the mill upgrade project today and added new pictures in the album. I still have a couple of minor things I want to do though; modify Z axis upper stop and install a new mill 'ring' light (old one died and was removed). Got this done in time to make space in the shop for my new toy - Rhodes 7" Shaper..
To summarize:
Rebuilt Head - new Z axis feed screw, new spindle and new spindle bearings. Removed all gears as they are not needed with the belt drive
Replaced base and original table with the LMS Large Table. Changed table to 20 TPI screws (provided)
Replaced column with the LMS Solid Column
Re-engineered DRO Scale mounts and installed iGaging Scales for Touch DRO system - 3 axis
Modified Air Spring to fit thicker column and re-installed
Re-installed aluminum bearing cover / tach sensor housing (Tach is MachTach)
