I'm trying this again; I posted a while ago and it never showed up.
I have the Grizzly mini mill with the belt drive upgrade. As part of that, I removed the intermediate shaft and gears as they were no longer needed. Got rid of the speed lever while I was at it also.
I bought the mill knowing the spindle bearings needed to be replaced and am doing that now. The question is;
Is there any reason I need to re-install the spindle gear and spacers? They aren't used for anything I can think of and I could just install the spindle without them; Lower Bearing and Upper Bearing only with the spindle and spindle nut of course, as well as the bearing covers.
Not installing the gears would simplify things for sure.
Any thoughts?
