Re: [GrizHFMinimill] Mini Mill Belt Upgrade / Spindle Bearings

There's nothing to stop you taking them out as they aren't doing anything with the belt drive in place but a  lot of people don't bother as it saves the work of pulling and re-fitting the spindle and bearings.

In fact a lot of people don't bother removing the small intermediate shaft, gears and bearings or the shift mechanism but just remove the adjustment lever. Saves the work and the need to  blank off the redundant holes left in the head

Mines run with my (home made) belt drive for8 years now with all of them left in place

Subject: [GrizHFMinimill] Mini Mill Belt Upgrade / Spindle Bearings

I am replacing the spindle bearings on my mill and have the belt upgrade. Quick question:

Any reason I can't leave the spindle gears and such out when I re-install the spindle? The intermediate shaft and gears are already gone thanks to the belt upgrade.

Thoughts?
