I have the HF S2. I've scrapped it down and am very happy with it. The stuff I do is small and mostly aluminum or plastic so handles it well. Just made some bearing blocks for my telescope.
If you are going to work it over, I don't think it matters where you purchase. If you just plan to use it out of the box, LMS might be the best bet, or Grizzly.
