Re: [GrizHFMinimill] Please ignore the email you received about being hacked

What told me this was a fake was his statement that he had been watching my computer for a month or so.  These jerks don't spend that kind of time on small fry like us.

If you do a little online homework on this scam (or any scam) you will usually quickly find that it is a hoax and a con job.  Just search for the wording in the subject line.  Many variants of this scam have surfaced.

Subject: [GrizHFMinimill] Please ignore the email you received about being hacked

Hello Group:

Some scoundrel put what I think is called a Trojan Horse on our group site. This danged thing sent out an email stating that the hacker has found our dirty terrible awful secrets and is threatening to expose us if we don't pay them.

I have more secrets than most and am not concerned by this miscreants ranting and raving. You should not be either. Please do not be alarmed, your wife already knows about you. Just ignore the email.

Thank you
