Also, I'm not surprised things seemed to draw a top dollar.  I've only been to a several machinery auctions and saw the same thing.  And speaking of drills, I was at a Wings West auction (regional airline that went out of business) and they had a fantastic set of aircraft drills (longer drills also called "extended") in a fantastic case with many drawers.  It sold for about 50 percent more than you could just go out and buy them new.  I did, however, get a nice metal desk upon which I have this computer I am currently using.  So sometimes, going to an auction isn't a total loss.

At another auction, I wanted a South Bend 10" Precision model lathe and a small Clausing milling machine.  Perfect for me.  There were at least a couple of others there who kept bidding each other up determined to win them at all costs.  And they did.  I forget the prices, but they were really, really high.

Morning Chuck!

I picked up a few items at the auction yesterday.

Question….I got the drill bit set in the grey case w/100+ bits.

They are the short ones. Are these bits called anything special? Jobbers perhaps??

The ½" and 3/8" are missing. Most of the #24 thru 60 are also MIAbut I'm not concerned with those.

I want to find replacements for the ½ & 3/8 that will match the rest.

I never have had a decent set of drill bits

The mill went for $1450 and they pulled the vise ($330), the swivel base and sold those separately.

Also they pulled the collet rack and sold that separate as well which really sucks IMHO There was one missing in the set and I suppose it was the one in the mill holding the cutter.

Where I stand right now.

I have searches out on C/L for a mill as well as e-bay and I am planning on a trip to MO in June that will include a run to Springfield for the Grizzly tent sale. Maybe I will get lucky and snag a floor model closeout or scratch & dent unit.

Thanks again for all the help>

I had a blast at the sale and also picked up a new Craftsman bench grinder for a good price.

And the big Baldor unit w/stand brought $490 and the big air compressor went for $1400
