Doubt if I will ever get out that way.

My neighbor across the street is a CAD guy.

Has a computer setup w/all the bells and chimes in his garage.

That stuff is all Greek to me though!!

I have a hell of a lot to learn, that's for sure.

Will probably be summer or fall before I get this unit up and running.

First up is getting the motor all checked out and serviced.

The Moffett Field Museum is located in Mountain View California near the NASA Ames Research Center.

I have attached a pdf of a similar mill that I measured and given the dimensions on the sheet, I was able to calculate the dimensions that I wanted.

By the way, I use a free program DraftSight to do all of my engineering designs. I use it on my iMac, but it will run on a PC too.

The program functions much the same way as ACAD which I started using in about 1982.

My Jet is all apart for transport.
I got it home OK and in the shop but it will be quite some time before it is together and operational.
Perhaps there is info in the manual that will help.
It is a floor model machine, a Knee mill to boot.
I'm sure the spec's here will help.
Have yiu tried searching for the manual for that machine.

I am a retired mechanical engineer (16 years retired) and I have an easy question for you.
I am setting up an ENCO mill drill for the Moffett Field Museum.
We have acquired a used one on a homemade stand.
In the past, I have used many Bridgeport mills.
My concern is that the ENCO mill on the homemade wooden stand appears too high.
Could you please measure the distance to the top of the mill table and to the top of the spindle drawbar from the floor.
I will use this information to adjust the height of the ENCO mill.

One owner 1986 model. Used to balance pistons in a Father Son engine rebuild shop.
Swivel base vise, original manuals, some tooling, 120/240 single phase and free loading on my trailer.
We removed the head and motor for transport..
Nice tight machine w/very little evident wear.
Now, it's clean up and learning time!

You have a lot of mill options in a price range of $1500 to $2500. From what you have described as your need, you might be fine at more or less the $1500 end and put some of the balance of the money toward tooling and measuring items.

If I pay/bid anything near/over that price for anything there it will likely be the big air compressor..
I have a feeling, judging from the number (over 50) of folks there yesterday afternoon for the preview, that I may just be coming home empty handed.
At this point, after looking on line at mills of many kinds, I am of a mind when I get one, just to get what tooling I need when I need it.
I have found Kurt & Kurt style vises on line for $150 & up
The one on the auction has a swivel base and I'm sure ut will command a big price.
#1 looking at a dovetail column unit
#2 $1500-$2500 price range
I have made a list of the machine tool stuff and will note the price when it sells.
If anyone would care to know later today what any item sells for, just holler.
Should be over by 2 PM or so.
