Rickard's .sig file of messages reminded me...
For several years in the '70s & '80s I worked as a manufacturing engineer & NC programmer for a company whose owner, Peter Olmsted, had written his own software for programming a pair of 4-axis, horizontal spindle, machining centers. The software kept track of what material had been removed from what locations on the 4-sided workpiece, and would automatically rapid-feed through air to begin its cut. Most of the program's error and warning messages were pretty straightforward, but if you asked the program to enlarge a hole with the same kind of tool as you had used to make the hole (say, counter drilling a drilled hole or counter-boring a bored hole), the message was:
"Drill the large diameter first, you idiot."
