[GrizHFMinimill] Re: $50 mini-mill power feed

I found this motor on eBay which might just do it:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200RPM-Output-Speed-37mm-Diameter-12V-2-1A-DC-Geared-Motor-/390370394218?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae3e3806a#ht_2157wt_1049

Seller is sicilydream in Hong Kong. :) Could be a POS, but sellers feedback is through the roof so it might be worth the risk. Rated torque after geardown in in/oz is supposedly around 80 -- a little above the rating on Glen's spec. But, who knows it's validity.

Let's see what others think about that option.

At 22.00, I would not be inclined to go the auto-boneyard route. Also, for the car part repurposing, who knows what the state of those motors was before you start your mod. Might be spending a lot of time designing around a motor that's on it's last legs and can't be replaced. Also, while window motors might be small enough -- although likely to have a mount on the side not the front-- the wiper motors can be about as big as the spindle motor. That motor above is something like 1.5X4.

I posted back to Glen on the video since he graciously responded last night (thanks Glen) with a link to the motor specs -- repeated here for convenience:
"Data Sheet for Gearmotor is available from: http://www.interinar.com/public_docs/DME44_3.pdf. Page 2 shows parameters for motor WITH attached gearbox.. Refer to DME44B series. The gearbox is type 6DG however the motor is 6H which has larger diameter of output shaft, increased to 8mm. Look for Gear ratio 25:1 for exact parameters. Bought on eBay but no longer available."

That was a great deal but it's no longer...

Maybe someday we can get some more info on the camlock. I know there's some detail above, but I'm a noob. So, I love pics.

I guess I'm easy to impress because I'm pretty blown away by this upgrade in every way. There are some great ideas in there and I'm not finding lots of others who did it the same way. It also inspired me to order some iGaging DRO scales where were almost free...
