Well drill motors of my experience have double or triple reduction
gears built in as well as (often) variable speed drive
electronics built into the wiring. It's worst feature is usually
arranging a mounting bracket! And in the spirit of real kludgery
the chuck could serve as the coupling and slip clutch! Bill
