[GrizHFMinimill] Re: counterbalance system

Just looked at your photos recently posted.
All good work to resolve a problem that has been inherent with most of the
milling machines with tilting columns. You must have experience of being a puppeteer.

I believe Grizzly have moved away from this type of machine, and IMHO you are entitled to a discount and as they would do in the domestic car do a "recall".Column drop is a very severe safety issue,it´s a wonder no
attorney has not cashed in on this issue.

It´s so sad to look at some of the "fixes"? of these tilting column machines. You even read of people "boasting" how they have fixed this issue,as though it´s the latest trend.
It´s like buying a new television and holding the screen in place with tape.

All good info for future buyers of mini mills."Newbies" please be aware.
Suggest Weiss type, fixed column, lead screw Z axis, quill with a DRO for final depth settings.

What you bought IMHO was a glorified drill press and the vendors have the audacity to call them milling machines.
Unfortunately most hobbyists have never used a machine tool in their life,so the chances of buying
a fixed column machine the first time around are very slim due to the extra cost and availability.
You get what you pay for.Should of done your homework.

Anyway, good work to make a silk purse out of a sows ear, don´t take any bigger cuts than 0.01"
you could end up with heavy hospital bills,no problem the vendors of the drill presses will pay LOL.
