A bit negative, maybe ..
given good work done by a person in good faith.

Everything is a balancing act.

I bought a 7x lathe in 2004 or so (Einhell, Bauhaus, == 350 €) ...
Did a very good rigid mount for it.
150 kg in mass, steel, concrete, perfectly rigid, 200€ in materials.
I would have been much better off buying, at the time, a 8x lathe at 500
€ (Macro In Spain).

Nothing is rigid.
Nothing is straight.
Nothing is flat.
Everything is relative.

You only save money once you get into the 50-100.000 € area (where I am
now).
