I had a feeling you had a mill with a MT3 spindle taper. Most of the mini mills I looked at when buying a mill were R8 tapers. The MT3 tapers are harder to release than the R8 tapers, especially when they are tightened down too much.
One advantage of having a mill with an MT3 spindle is that you don't need another set of collets for lathe use.
Good to hear that you were able to get the collet out.

Subject: [GrizHFMinimill] Re: Removing collet chuckHi All
I made sure I unscrewed the collet holder and used penetrating fluid. Good tip supporting the head and using heat. In the end with a bit more friendly persuasion and it came off. It is 3 morse taper collet holder. So now I will review those sites recommended and make a decision which way to go.I would like to thank all of you for your kind assistance.CheersMark
